HAITI EARTHQUAKE. Jack De Groote of Caritas Australia has asked that we give support through Caritas – our Church relief agency which already has an extensive presence in this very poor country.
Our response to such crises as these has always been generous. (Over $2,000 was sent to Caritas from our Christmas collection).

“IF YOU WANT TO CULTIVATE PEACE PROTECT CREATION” –Pope Benedict’s Peace day message.
“….. (there is the need) …. for development of joint and sustainable strategies to satisfy energy needs of present & future generations. … technologically advanced societies must be prepared to encourage more sober lifestyles and encourage a world-wide distribution of energy resources, so that countries lacking these resources can have access to them.”
2009 SOCIAL JUSTICE STATEMENT - YOUNG PEOPLE & JUSTICE.
“Something special happened in Sydney in July 2008. Young people of the world gathered to celebrate Faith. Galvanising this community was the presence of Pope Benedict. At the centre was Christ, and the unifying power of the Holy Spirit. … the events of W.Y. Day revealed how the Holy Spirit is leading young people in the Church today … we saw how the Spirit offers hope that is steadfast and power that can change the world.”
LENT SMALL GROUP REFLECTION/SHARING
For Lent 2010 we will provide an either/or Reflection Book. Our primary focus will be around the use of the Brisbane produced book. Its central focus is on Prayer. The Sydney produced book focuses on Priesthood (Year of the Priest). Both formats have something to offer participants. You may wish to assist in co-ordinating the purchase and distribution of books and help arrange meeting times and venues. If you can assist please contact Fr Kevin/Greg Byrne soon. Sample of booklets available soon for your perusal.
